Team No. 3

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After spending the final three years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tom Brady finally decided to retire from the NFL during the 2023 offseason.

So this year, the Bucs rolled with former No. 1 draft pick Baker Mayfield as their starting quarterback, and to the surprise of some, the team was able to qualify for the playoffs for the fourth season in a row.

Mayfield performed well during the 2023 regular season, throwing for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions in 17 games.

He's scheduled to become a free agent in March, and his return to Tampa could depend on how far the team goes during the 2023 postseason.

If Mayfield is unable to lead the Bucs to any playoff success this season, the team could potentially be in the market for a new starting quarterback this year.

Tampa's top 2024 draft selection, at the very best, will have them slotted in the 19th position in the first round. So, them ending up with one of this year's top quarterback prospects isn't very likely.

Meaning that if the Bucs move on from Mayfield, it will probably be to sign another veteran quarterback. Someone like Kirk Cousins could definitely be a possibility.

Tampa head coach Todd Bowles was the head coach of the New York Jets back in 2018 when they were one of the final teams in contention to sign Cousins.

If the current Minnesota quarterback hits free agency again, could Bowles attempt to make up for striking out in 2018 by convincing Cousins to sign with the Bucs this year?
