What are the Minnesota Vikings getting in the player the selected with their top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, wide receiver Jordan Addison?
Before the 2023 NFL Draft began on Thursday, the general belief was that the Minnesota Vikings needed to address their defense. After all, the team ended the 2022 season ranked 28th in the NFL in points against.
Their low ranking was laid bare before the entire nation when Minnesota took 13 wins into the ‘22 postseason and promptly lost to the New York Giants.
Then, in the offseason, the Vikings let veteran corner Patrick Peterson walk. However, they addressed their leaky secondary by re-signing safety Harrison Smith and picking up free agents Byron Murphy Jr. (Arizona) and Joejuan Williams (Patriots). Despite the new additions, it’s widely believed that Minnesota still needs to get extra defensive help.
When it came time for the franchise to pick during their 23rd spot in the first round, both Joey Porter Jr. and Deonte Banks were still available. Both players are highly regarded cornerbacks that can help a team immediately. In fact, the New York Giants believed so and selected Banks one spot after Minnesota.
The Vikings surprised several media members by picking USC receiver Jordan Addison. It goes without saying that this was a decision by the organization to compensate for letting Adam Thielen go to Carolina.
Without further ado, here are three things to know about the Vikings’ new receiver.
