Star candidate No. 2

Byron Murphy Jr. - CB

Byron Murphy Jr. had a respectable four years in Arizona, but injuries cost him a chance to really cash in during this free agency period. The former Washington Huskie was a four-year starter for the Cardinals, and when he was on the field, he flashed superstar potential.

For Murphy, he is coming into a situation with the Vikings where he is the number one guy. It will be interesting to see where and how defensive coordinator Brian Flores uses the former Arizona Cardinal, but he has a chance to make the NFL world truly know his name.

When you think of star corners in the NFL, Jalen Ramsey, Sauce Gardner, Darius Slay, and Jaire Alexander are a few names that come to mind. One thing that all four of those players have in common were coaches that played huge parts in their development, and for Murphy, he could not have chosen a better situation than this one with Flores to help him improve his game.

It would be expected that Murphy is going to match up against the best receivers week in and week out, similar to how Xavien Howard did under Flores during his reign as head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Whether that is inside or outside, what is for sure is that Flores is going to ask a lot of the young corner in 2023.

With that being said, if Murphy can stay healthy and the Vikings' defense sees improvements, don't be surprised to see people around the league talking about Byron Murphy Jr. as a main contributor to that improvement.
