Prospect No. 2
Quinn Ewers - QB (Texas)
A polarizing quarterback prospect just went into Tuscaloosa and absolutely took care of business as Texas' Quinn Ewers led the Longhorns to a statement win over Alabama. Ewers went up against Nick Saban and one of the best secondaries in the country, and all he did was throw for 349 yards and three touchdowns.
If Ewers was healthy last season, there is a real chance that he would be 2-0 against Nick Saban in his career. He has the guts and the talent to be a very real quarterback prospect and an NFL star, so long as he can just be himself.
From a zoomed-out look at Texas, this performance by Ewers is impressive. He entered spring camp without a clear indication that he would start this season, thanks to the arrival of Archie Manning. Instead, Ewers won the starting job and has Texas firmly in the mix to win the Big 12 and already has a crucial victory over a top opponent in the nation.
If there is ever a value pick in this draft class, it just might be Quinn Ewers. He likely is not going to go at the top of the draft, but he could be a very enticing option for a near-playoff team that is picking in the late teens.
There will likely be a bit more development to be done with Ewers compared to some other quarterbacks in this class, but his arm talent and demeanor are about as good as it gets. If the Vikings turn the season around a bit but still want to get a starter of the future, Ewers would be quite the candidate next spring.
