4 potential Vikings 2024 draft picks who stood out in Week 2

Prospect No. 3
Jaden Hicks - DB (Washington State)
Washington State pulled off an upset in Week 2 over Wisconsin thanks to a stellar game from their defense. No player shined more than Jaden Hicks, one of the top safeties in the upcoming draft if he decides to declare early. Just a redshirt sophomore, Hicks has the potential to become one of the best defensive backs in college football in a hurry.
In the win over Wisconsin, Hicks tallied nine tackles, a tackle for loss, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble. His performance gained national attention as he was named the Bednarik Player of the Week, given to the best defensive player in the nation.
There is plenty of time for Jaden Hicks to develop and become a solidified first-round draft prospect. However, he could be a Day 2 pick right now with a ton of upside and will certainly be one of the players to watch as his season progresses.
The Vikings need more playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. Safety Lewis Cine has hardly made an impact in his young career, and things do not look too promising as he hardly even got on the field in the season opener.
Jaden Hicks will be a game-wrecker when he makes the leap to the NFL. Would the Vikings try to add another young safety to a crowded room?
