Free Agent No. 2

Carson Wentz - QB

Don't worry, I am not crazy, as this is a potential Nick Mullens replacement for the 2023 season. Carson Wentz's career got off to a hot start with the Philadelphia Eagles, and he was well on his way to winning the NFL MVP in 2017 before suffering what would be a career-altering ACL injury.

Wentz has bounced around the NFL during the last couple of seasons, linking up with Frank Reich in Indianapolis in 2021 before joining a young and talented Washington Commanders team in 2022 that fell way below their expectations for the year. Both stints saw Wentz benched before each season's end.

At this point in his career, Wentz is nothing more than a backup quarterback, which has been proven by his play over the last three seasons. Minnesota could be the restart Wentz needs, as he would have no expectations or pressure by any means since the Vikings are Kirk Cousins' team in 2023.

Wentz would bring added experience to the quarterback room, and if Cousins were to go down, Mullens as Minnesota's No. 2 signal-caller is cause for serious concern.

Just remember, these are "unexpected" free agent signings that could happen, not exactly ones that should happen.
