Jadeveon Clowney - Edge rusher

It feels like every year, Jadeveon Clowney's name is mentioned as someone who the Vikings should bring in as an additional pass rusher. 2023 could be that year, especially since it is hard to find competent pass rushers.

Clowney spent the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns playing opposite Myles Garrett. Coming off a zero-sack season in 2020 after only playing eight games for the Titans, some people believe Clowney may be done in the NFL. Surprisingly, he signed with the Browns and proceeded to have a nine-sack season in 2021 while playing in 14 games. 2022 was a different story though, as he only produced two sacks in 12 games.

There's no denying Clowney's athletic ability. He still has one of the best bull-rushes in all of football. His issue is consistency, he takes way too many plays off, which is very noticeable for a player with his athleticism.

Clowney is at the point of his career where he is going to be more of a situational pass rusher than every down player. In Brian Flores defense, you need to be able to rush the passer, and Clowney can do just that, which is good since that was something the Vikings' defense simply couldn't do in the second half of the 2022 season.
