Possible Vikings Starting QB in 2024 No. 3

Gardner Minshew

2023 Team: Indianapolis Colts

2023 Stats:

- 62.2 completion percentage
- 3,305 passing yards (194.4 per game)
- 15 touchdown passes
- 9 interceptions
- 84.6 passer rating

- 100 rushing yards (2.9 per carry)
- 3 rushing touchdowns

Since entering the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, Gardner Minshew has managed to scratch and claw his way to maintaining a solid career in the league.

Minshew has bounced around during his time in the NFL, as he spent his first two years in the league with the Jaguars, then he had a stint with the Philadelphia Eagles for two seasons, and then in 2023, he was a member of the Colts.

He wasn’t supposed to start for Indianapolis this past season, but after the team’s rookie starting quarterback, Anthony Richardson, suffered a significant injury, the Colts really didn’t have any other choice than to turn to the veteran.

During their games with Minshew starting under center in 2023, Indianapolis actually posted a record of 7-6, and they were in the hunt for a playoff spot up until the very last week of the season.

His numbers from the 2023 campaign aren’t going to wow anyone, but he proved multiple times this past season that he can still perform at a high level when needed.

Minshew’s best game of the 2023 season took place in Week 13 when he helped the Colts get a win on the road over the Tennessee Titans by throwing for 312 yards and two touchdowns.

He’s already shown that he’s willing to join a team that is looking for someone to be the backup behind a young quarterback.

So if selecting one of the top passing prospects in this year’s NFL Draft ends up being the Vikings’ intentions this offseason, then signing Minshew when free agency begins in March might be something for them to consider.
