Alexander Mattison - RB

Following a Theo Jackson interception late in the first quarter, Alexander Mattison coughed the ball up on the first play of the drive to give the ball right back to the Eagles. Luckily, Philly missed a field goal, and all was well at that point in the game.

However, Mattison has been about as disappointing as could be in his first two games as the unquestioned starter for the Vikings. He carried the ball eight times for 28 yards and caught three passes for 11 yards in his second game of the season, which came after another abysmal showing against the Buccaneers.

Mattison also dropped an easy completion late in the fourth quarter, lowered his shoulder to initiate contact rather than going out of bounds to stop the clock when the Vikings needed as much time as possible, and fumbled again in the fourth quarter but was saved by a defensive penalty.

Two games into the experiment, and it seems like Mattison should no longer be the feature back of the offense. Changes need to be made in the run game as the Vikings try to bounce back.
