K.J. Osborn - WR

I gave K.J. Osborn the benefit of the doubt on the interception at the end of the first half last week since Kirk Cousins has proven that he can put the ball in a much better spot. This week, however, Osborn was outright bad despite scoring a late touchdown to keep the score close.

He dropped a couple of easy grabs, which stalled the offense, and was once again outplayed by rookie standout Jordan Addison. Osborn is stealing playing time from a much better player, much like Olabisi Johnson did in 2020 during the first two weeks to keep Justin Jefferson off the field.

Osborn finished the night with three catches for 34 yards and a score but could have - and should have - had much more than that. In the hierarchy of options for Kirk Cousins, Osborn has very clearly been outside of the top three and in the same tier as Josh Oliver and Alexander Mattison.

If he wants to stay on the field and make an impact for this team, Osborn has to be better when he's trusted down the field. Through two weeks, he's provided some costly mistakes to an offense that needs to limit the turnovers and capitalize on big plays.

I am not going to write Osborn off or even demand that he does not see the field anymore, but he should not be on the field over Jordan Addison when the Vikings run out two-receiver looks. Addison is simply a better player and has proven that in just two games as a Viking.
