Dean Lowry - DL

The Vikings needed to bolster the defense in a major way after last season's debacle. So far, the additions made to the secondary and even in the second level of the defense have been impactful despite the rough start.

Dean Lowry was brought in to fortify the trenches and help stop the run, but that move has simply not panned out. The Eagles were able to run the ball with ease all night long, and Lowry finished with yet another horrific PFF grade.

Lowry has been bad in all facets of the game and has not contributed positively to the defense in any way. If he was able to do much of anything in Week 2, maybe D'Andre Swift would not have rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown, while the Eagles rushed for 259 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per attempt.

Marcus Davenport needs to return soon and make an impact or else this could be a long season for the Vikings. Dean Lowry has not been the veteran presence that Minnesota needed, and that spells trouble with a tough schedule to open the season.

There was simply no reason for the Vikings to get manhandled on the ground as badly as they did on Thursday Night. Yes, the Eagles are built to win in the trenches, but they made it look almost too easy. This was a much different team than the defense that kept the Buccaneers from gaining anything on the ground.
