Prediction No. 5

Minnesota will be happy to get out of Seattle healthy

Remember the show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” They would do a bunch of skits, Drew Carey would hand out a bunch of points that don’t matter, and everyone forgot about the outside world for 30 minutes.

That’s kind of like what preseason football is. For three hours, Vikings fans will sit on the couch, drink a few beers and watch a football game, and it won’t matter who is actually wearing the purple jerseys. As we said in the introduction, it’s catnip for football fans.

But for O’Connell and his staff, these three hours will be a challenge to regulate their collective blood pressure. Health has been a priority since O’Connell took over last fall, and with the Vikings looking to maintain their competitive advantage, we may not see a lot of substance in Seattle’s game.

That’s why a prediction is almost meaningless when it comes to Thursday’s final score. But if the Vikings can get out of Seattle without a major injury, it will be considered a victory moving forward.

Prediction: Vikings win 18-15
