Disappointment No. 3

Poor Officiating

Blaming the officials for a loss is a loser mentality, but seeing how the refs called this one, especially late in the game, was disappointing. Throughout the game, they missed the Chiefs right tackle Jawaan Taylor's consistent false starting. Kevin O'Connell was heard yelling at the officials throughout the game to watch it and call it, but it never happened.

Later in the game, when the Vikings were trying to tie it, the calls really took a turn. The biggest atrocity was the trifecta that was missed on the Jordan Addison pass interference call that became a non-call.

The refs initially made the right call on the pass interference, as La'Jarius Sneed was clearly all over Addison. After a brief discussion and pleas that the ball was tipped by Kansas City, which it wasn't, the officials decided to pick up the flag.

That was horrible, but the zebras also missed C.J. Ham getting face-masked by a Chiefs defender. It was extremely blatant and obvious as Ham's head was nearly ripped clean off his neck.

The final penalty that was missed on that play was back in the end zone as Sneed was arguing the call. He took his helmet off in the field of play, which is a clear and definitive penalty, but instead of throwing the flag, the ref just told him to put his helmet back on.

When you are the defending Super Bowl Champs and the biggest draw in the league, calls are going to go your way. It was disappointing to see because the Vikings have plenty of issues on their own and don't need bad calls added to the list.
