5th-fastest Vikings player

Ty Chandler - RB

40-yard dash time: 4.38 seconds

Ty Chandler is expected to endure a much larger role for this team in 2023 with the recent departure of Dalvin Cook. Alexander Mattison is in line to take the majority of the carries now, leaving room for a combination of Chandler, Kene Nwangwu, and DeWayne McBride to fill in for the new lead back.

Chandler managed just 20 yards on six attempts during his rookie campaign last season, though he showed great promise in his final season in college at North Carolina, where he racked up more than 1,300 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns.

The former North Carolina Tar Heel ran an official 40-yard dash time of 4.38 seconds and translates that speed well on the field, evidenced by his breakaway speed and home run ability shown in college.

Chandler offers a much different running style than Mattison, which is why it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he starts pushing for more reps later in the season. Mattison is firmly the lead back at the moment, but he doesn’t have the explosion that Chandler does, who runs more similarly to Dalvin Cook.
