Who are some of the remaining players available in the free-agent market that could immediately start for the Minnesota Vikings in 2023?
With training camp set to begin in a little less than three weeks, Minnesota Vikings Kevin O'Connell and his staff will get a good look at the state of their franchise for 2023.
Currently sitting with about $18 million in cap space, the Vikings may look to bring in one or two veteran free agents who could jump into the starting lineup come Week 1 when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roll into U.S. Bank Stadium.
It may be beating a dead drum at this point, but it is still worrisome that Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has yet to add another veteran in free agency. There are still holes all over Minnesota's defense, and one could argue there are a few free-agent interior offensive linemen who would be immediate upgrades to what the team currently has now.
One potential reason we have seen very little activity from the Vikings front office would be that the team is fully prepared to take a step back competitively in 2023.
Minnesota was recently suggested as a team that should consider tanking during this upcoming season to have a chance at drafting USC quarterback Caleb Williams in 2024. However, until Williams is walking across the draft stage and holding up a Vikings jersey, we should expect Minnesota to try and repeat as NFC North champions and potentially compete for a Super Bowl next season.
It's time to take a look at a few current free agents that could come in and start for the defending NFC North champions, starting with a veteran corner who is still in search of his first Super Bowl ring.
