DeWayne McBride - RB
DeWayne McBride had a rough game against the Seahawks. As a kick returner, he just eagerly returned the ball and ran full speed, straight ahead, without really allowing any blocks to get set up. As a running back, his performance was even worse.
There's no way to sugarcoat it; McBride ran scared. He turned his body as he was about to get hit and just seemed very uncomfortable every time he stepped on the field.
It seemed like it was too big a spot for him, and the other running back, Abram Smith, who the Vikings signed a week prior, looked much more poised and a better candidate to be the fourth running back for the Vikings.
Nerves will happen, and hopefully, McBride got all those butterflies out of his system. He proved in college he's a very good back with a nice blend of vision, power, and instincts. McBride needs to dig deep and find that confidence he had during his extremely productive career at Alabama-Birningham.
If he falters again against the Titans, looking timid and overmatched, the question of him making the roster won't be asked. Folks will start to wonder if Minnesota will even sign him to the practice squad.
