5 Vikings whose jobs are in danger following the 2023 NFL Draft
By Chris Schad
Player No. 3
Jonathan Bullard - DL
Jonathan Bullard may have been fighting an uphill battle to keep his starting job, mainly because most Vikings fans might not know Bullard was a starter.
Bullard started seven games last season but generated just five quarterback pressures on 171 pass-rushing snaps. Even worse, Bullard’s PFF grade of 57.3 ranked 82nd out of 142 defensive tackles with 20 percent of the league lead in snaps played.
Bullard’s role ultimately wound up being more of a rotational guy than a starter but he had an opportunity for a promotion once Dalvin Tomlinson left in free agency. Instead, the Vikings used a fifth-round pick on Jacqueline Roy, who was regarded as a first-round pick this time a year ago.
It’s unknown whether Roy can regain that form or if Bullard will be relegated to the defensive end spot opposite Harrison Phillips. Whatever his role may be, Bullard will need to show more production or risk being passed on the depth chart.
