Prediction No. 3

Adam Thielen will score a touchdown against the Vikings

The Detroit Lakes legend who went to Mankato and instantly became part of the Minnesotan citizenship test took a step back one year ago but felt like he had more in the tank. The Vikings ultimately disagreed and released Adam Thielen last February and his one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers hasn’t gone to plan in the first three weeks.

While Thielen erupted for 11 catches for 145 yards and a touchdown with Andy Dalton under center in last week’s loss to the Seahawks, he caught just nine passes for 66 yards and a touchdown in the first two games with Bryce Young at quarterback.

With Young expected to return from injury, it looks like Thielen may not be a concern during Sunday’s matchup. But aside from his excitement, he also draws a juicy matchup against the Vikings’ secondary.

Thielen has spent most of his time in the slot for the Panthers and should match up with Josh Metellus. While Mattellus has played well in his hybrid role, he allowed 10 catches for 62 yards in coverage against the Chargers last week.

With his ability to dominate in the red zone, there’s a good chance that Thielen will find the end zone against his former team on Sunday.
