Quinnen Williams - DL (New York Jets)

It is extremely unlikely that the New York Jets won't sign Quinnen Williams to a massive extension. However, Williams, who is one of the NFL's best interior defenders, is still on his rookie contract. The question remains; why hasn't New York pulled the trigger yet?

In the 2019 NFL Draft, Williams was the third overall pick and the first interior defender off the board. In that same draft, the 17th overall pick (Dexter Lawrence) and the 19th overall pick (Jeffery Simmons) have both signed massive contract extensions with their teams.

For Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, if he wants to speed up this "competitive rebuild" process, making a move for Quinnen Williams would do just that. Williams is leaps and bounds better than any interior defensive lineman the Vikings currently have, and you could make the argument that he'd be the best defensive player regardless of position.

Williams would give Minnesota their first legitimate piece to build around defensively. Williams wouldn't come cheap; multiple first-round picks would have to be in play, and that's if Joe Douglas and company would even want to entertain moving Williams, especially after going all in on Aaron Rodgers, and don't forget the large contract extension you'll have to give him.

Justin Jefferson, and T.J. Hockenson are expected to sign lucrative contract extensions with the Vikings, which makes Williams to Minnesota even more unlikely. But it doesn't hurt to dream of what Williams would look like in purple.
