Fifth Round (Pick No. 158)

Dorian Thompson-Robinson - QB (UCLA)

The Vikings are also in the market for a quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft. There are rumors they could trade up for one, but that could just be smoke. Whether or not they trade up, Kirk Cousins is only with the team for one more season, so the need is real. If they wait until later in the draft, one prospect who could end up being a major steal is Dorian Thompson-Robinson from UCLA.

Thompson-Robinson is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback who can make plays with his legs. He's put up huge numbers in his time as a Bruin, throwing for 10,710 yards and 88 total touchdowns. He's also rushed for 1,826 yards and 28 touchdowns. That's insane and just speaks to the playmaker that he is.

Thompson-Robinson could slide down the bar because he's mechanically a bit of a mess. He has a long delivery, sometimes makes poor decisions, doesn't read defenses correctly, and lacks touch on his deep balls. That being said, he has shown improvement and can throw a very pretty ball when he's dialed in.

The NFL is constantly changing and the days of having a pocket-passing quarterback are over. Quarterbacks need to be able to avoid pressure with their legs and pick up first downs on the ground. Thompson-Robinson does that. It's that x-factor that can turn him into one of the draft's biggest steals and gives him the potential to be the Vikings' long-term answer at the position.
