4. Pittsburgh Steelers

Speaking of the Steelers, they could potentially have a head-coaching vacancy if they decide to part ways with Mike Tomlin after the 2023 season.

After starting the year with a 6-3 record, Pittsburgh is now 7-7 heading into Week 16 following losses in four of their last five games, and missing the playoffs seems like a strong possibility.

Tomlin has been the Steelers head coach since 2007, and to his credit, the team has never finished a season with a losing record during his tenure. However, Pittsburgh hasn't won a playoff game since 2016, and the fan base is growing restless.

Despite the Steelers only hiring three head coaches since 1969, it wouldn't be shocking to see them mutually part ways with Tomlin after the current season.

If Pittsburgh actually ends up needing to find a new head coach in 2024, Brian Flores is someone the team will likely consider for the role.

All three of the head coaches the Steelers have hired since 1969 had a defensive background and Flores obviously fits that criteria. Flores was also with Pittsburgh in 2022 as an assistant coach, so he is already familiar with how things run within the organization.

If the Steelers actually decide to move on from Tomlin, Flores seems like one of the strongest candidates to become the team's next head coach.
