3. Danielle Hunter will lead the NFL in sacks
There were many things wrong with the Vikings' defense last season, including the usage of Danielle Hunter. But Brian Flores has done his best to rectify that problem and led Hunter to a career year.
Hunter was miscast under Ed Donatell as he spent a career-high 5.3 percent of his snaps in coverage but still managed to collect 10.5 sacks last season.
Flores still has Hunter drop into coverage, but it’s been cut nearly in half to 2.8 percent this season. The results have been outstanding as Hunter enters Sunday’s game with an NFL-leading 10.5 sacks.
This could just be a fast start in a new scheme, but Flores’s defense has been getting stronger as the season has continued. With an aggressive mindset, Hunter will continue to be sent after the quarterback in the final eight games, and it could lead him to wind up with the league’s sack title at the end of the year.
