Running Back No. 2

Kareem Hunt

2022 Stats (with Cleveland Browns):

  • 17 games
  • 123 carries, 468 rushing yards (3.8 average)
  • 3 rushing touchdowns
  • 35 catches, 210 receiving yards (6.0 average)
  • 1 receiving touchdown

Minnesota signing a veteran running back in free agency wouldn't even be a knock on Alexander Mattison. The Vikings might just want to add a veteran to their backfield to make up for the amount of experience they're losing with Dalvin Cook being shown the door.

Kareem Hunt is probably the best free-agent running back available right now. The former third-round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, Hunt has been with the Browns for the last four seasons as their No. 2 running back behind Nick Chubb.

Following their upcoming mandatory minicamp, if Minnesota isn't feeling confident about their running back depth heading into this summer's training camp, signing Hunt could be something they consider.

Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is also familiar with what Hunt can add to an offense since both were members of the Browns organization in 2020 and 2021.
