6 candidates to replace Dalvin Cook for the Minnesota Vikings
By Adam Patrick
Running Back No. 6
Ezekiel Elliott
2022 Stats (with Dallas Cowboys):
- 15 games (14 starts)
- 231 carries, 876 rushing yards (3.8 average)
- 12 rushing touchdowns
- 17 catches, 92 receiving yards (5.4 average)
The way some people have talked about Ezekiel Elliott this offseason, some might think he already has one foot in the retirement home. But at 27-years-old, Elliott still has plenty to offer a team that is willing to give him a chance.
Now, is he the guy who rushed for over 95 yards per game during his first three seasons in the NFL? No, of course not. But the dude has scored 24 touchdowns in the last two years, and that's not exactly easy to do in the league.
What's currently intriguing about Elliott is that he split carries with Tony Pollard in Dallas last season, so one can assume that he could be open to splitting touches in the Vikings backfield with Alexander Mattison or someone else.
However, it wouldn't come as a shock either if Elliott waited around this year for a starting job to open up. He's started 102 games in his career and he might not be ready to take a step down on the depth chart for a team in the NFL just yet.
