Quarterback No. 5

Davis Mills

2023 Team: Houston Texans

After he was selected by the Texans in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Davis Mills surprisingly wound up starting 11 games for Houston during his rookie season.

In those 11 games, Mills made plenty of rookie mistakes. But he also had a number of performances that made people believe he could emerge as a solid starting quarterback in the NFL one day.

During his rookie season, Mills threw for at least 300 yards in a matchup four times, and he had three games with multiple touchdown passes and no interceptions.

He didn't exactly take a big step in his development during his second season with the Texans in 2022. However, Mills really didn't have much talent to work with in Houston last year.

This season, Mills has assumed the role of the Texans' No. 2 quarterback as the team awarded the starting job to rookie signal-caller C.J. Stroud, who was drafted by Houston with the second overall pick earlier this year.

If given actual weapons to use in an offense, Mills still has the potential to turn into a useful starting quarterback for an NFL team within the next few years.

If the Texans are fine with moving on from him in 2024, it's not crazy to think that the Vikings might be one of the teams that attempts to add the 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback to their roster.
