Quarterback No. 5

Drew Lock

2023 Team: Seattle Seahawks

Drew Lock is interesting because he's a rare free-agent quarterback whom the Vikings could sign and who still possesses upside. Lock is 27 years old and has started 23 games in his career.

He has good size, a strong arm, and can take off and make plays on the ground. It just feels like he hasn't gotten the opportunity or support to be "The guy" for a team.

He did start 13 games for the Broncos in 2020. He threw for nearly 3000 yards that season with 16 touchdowns to 15 interceptions. Those aren't horrible numbers for a young quarterback.

He sometimes makes risky decisions, and those often end up in the hands of opposing teams, and that is why Denver felt they needed to make the move to Russell Wilson.

Lock was traded to Seattle, where he's played sparingly. He did win a game last season against the Eagles, showing good poise in the pocket and doing just enough to win the game and nothing to lose it.

If the Vikings were to sign Lock, then they likely wouldn't use a high pick on a quarterback in the draft.

They already have enough weapons in place on offense for him to be effective and could then spend heavily in free agency and use the draft to bolster their defense.

It would be interesting to see how Lock would fare with a team that is 100 percent behind him.
