Free-Agent Running Back No. 5

D’Andre Swift

2023 Team: Philadelphia Eagles

If the Vikings are looking for a younger free agent, D’Andre Swift could be in line for a return to the NFC North.

Swift spent the first three seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions but he was never ticketed for a lead role. After running for 542 yards and five touchdowns and catching 48 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns in 2022, Swift got his chance to be a top back in Philadelphia and cashed in with his first Pro Bowl appearance.

Swift’s season could be seen as disappointing as he only had five touchdowns, but he also posted a 54.1 percent success rate on the ground while adding 39 catches for 214 yards and a touchdown as a receiver.

At 25 years old, there’s a case that Swift has plenty left in the tank after taking a shared workload with the Lions. With a projected value of $5.7 million, Swift should be an affordable option if Minnesota wants to take a chance on a young, established running back.
