Decision No. 3

Signing pass rusher Marcus Davenport

While Garrett Bradbury has only logged seven snaps for the Vikings this season, that's still three more than new Minnesota pass rusher Marcus Davenport has been on the field for this year.

Davenport, who the Vikings signed this offseason to replace Za'Darius Smith on the edge, has only appeared in one game for Minnesota this year due to an ankle injury. The game was Thursday's contest in Philadelphia, however, he was only on the field for a total of four defensive snaps.

Before becoming a free agent earlier this year, Davenport spent the first five seasons of his NFL career as a member of the New Orleans Saints. One of the biggest knocks on him during his tenure with the Saints was his inability to remain off of the injury report.

So New Orleans let him hit free agency this offseason, and now he's the Vikings' problem. Davenport was supposed to team up with Danielle Hunter this year for Minnesota to terrorize opposing quarterbacks. Instead, Hunter has been the only one to make a difference for the Vikings' pass rush this season.

With Davenport being active on Thursday, one would assume that he should be able to heal up during Minnesota's current mini-bye and actually make an impact in the team's Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

So this potential disaster of an offseason move still has a chance to turn into something positive. But so far, adding Davenport hasn't turned out the way the Vikings had hoped it would.
