Vikings Prediction No. 6
Kirk Cousins will sign with the Atlanta Falcons
The NFL tampering period hasn’t begun, but it feels like there is a lot of smoke connecting Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons this year.
ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio reported earlier this week that Cousins was making plans to move to the Atlanta area, and later, he even doubled down, saying that Cousins had talked to Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts about obtaining the No. 8 jersey for next season.
Pitts denied the interaction on social media but if he acknowledged it, that would be a blatant occurrence of tampering.
There are other things connecting the dots, such as an oddly placed GIF from ESPN’s Louis Riddick on Wednesday and the Vikings' insistence that both sides have to “meet in the middle” on a new deal.
The latter phrase has become the mantra for discussions between Cousins and the Vikings for the past year, and it might become clear they won’t give the quarterback what he wants in a new contract.
With time running out, the Vikings seem to remain firm, which results in them having to look for a new quarterback this year in free agency and the NFL Draft.
