Game No. 4

Week 8 at Green Bay Packers in 2020

The Vikings’ first six games of the 2020 season were awful. Minnesota started the year with a 1-5 record and headed into their bye week wondering if the season was lost.

After returning from their bye, the Vikes faced intra-division rival Green Bay. Lambeau Field isn’t the easiest place to play, and another loss would pretty much doom Minnesota.

Thankfully, Dalvin Cook responded with a historic day. After the Packers scored first, Cook responded when he dashed up the gut for 21 yards and a game-tying score. Green Bay added a touchdown before Cook scored his second of the day from one yard out.

In the third quarter, Cook began the second-half scoring when he plunged over the goal line from one yard for his third touchdown of the game, putting Minny up, 21-14. Later in the quarter, Kirk Cousins found Cook for a short pass which the running back turned into a 50-yard scamper and another touchdown.

Remarkably, Cook was responsible for all four touchdowns in Minnesota’s 28-22 victory. Additionally, he had 163 rushing yards and 63 receiving yards and became the first Viking since Ahmad Rashad in 1979 to score four touchdowns in a single contest. Cook was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.
