Noteworthy Vikings Moment No. 4
Kirk Cousins suffers a season-ending Achilles injury
Not every noteworthy moment from 2023 has been a positive one for the Vikings, and Kirk Cousins tearing his Achilles back in Week 8 is certainly something that is going to stick in the minds of the team's fan base for a while.
Heading into the 2023 season, one of Cousins' biggest strengths as an NFL quarterback was his ability to avoid serious injury and return to the field each week even if he took a beating from the opposing defense in the previous game.
For whatever reason, however, something wasn't in the quarterback's favor during the afternoon of October 29th in Green Bay.
With Minnesota leading 24-10 in the fourth quarter, Cousins took a routine dropback, and during an attempt to avoid pressure from the Packers defense, the quarterback's Achilles snapped and his 2023 season was immediately over.
Every injury is unfortunate in the NFL, but Cousins' was especially unfortunate as he was playing some of the best football of his career.
But now, the 35-year-old quarterback will be a free agent in 2024, and despite how much he has said he would like to return to the Vikings next season, there's still a legit possibility that we might have already seen the last of Cousins in a Minnesota uniform.
