Xazavian Valladay is a player that has been gaining traction as the draft nears, garnering interviews from multiple NFL teams, including the Vikings.

Valladay’s last college season really gave him a boost while also impressing scouts while at the East-West Shrine Bowl. The draft boost that he is giving himself is mainly because he is now landing on draft boards, as he was a player who went under the radar for a long time.

When you look at Valladay’s stats, you’re probably curious as to why he wasn’t a big-time prospect earlier on. The biggest knock on Valladay is his age. He played for five years in college, meaning that he is an older prospect than other running backs, which could be a major red flag.

Valladay will turn 24 during the upcoming NFL season, which means that the running back clock is more than likely already nearing its end with him.

Valladay’s age could be a double-edged sword, however, in the current day of the NFL. Valladay has shown on tape that he has impressive attributes as a back, meaning he should be able to contribute once he makes the league.

Due to his age, he is still young enough to contribute right away, but once his rookie contract ends, he will probably be over the hill, giving whoever drafts him an easy out. Running backs in the current NFL are becoming more expandable than ever, and if Minnesota wants a cheap running back who can contribute right away and then be shipped out after their first contract, Valladay may be on the Vikings' radar.
