Dallas Cowboys

While Patterson could be an influential figure that could land Hunter in New York, another familiar face could inspire Hunter to go south and join the Dallas Cowboys.

Former Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was named the defensive coordinator in Dallas last week and could add Hunter to bolster a pass rush that ranked 14th in sacks (46) and 16th (21.3%) in pressure rate last season.

While those numbers look great on the surface, a lot of the damage was made by Micah Parsons and his 14 sacks, and Zimmer liked to have several capable pass-rushers to take attention off their main threat.

Before Cowboys fans can start dreaming about Hunter and Parsons dominating opposing quarterbacks, they’ll need to work the cap. Dallas is currently $19.7 million over the salary cap entering the offseason, but owner and general manager Jerry Jones announced that the Cowboys would go all-in on the 2024 season during the Senior Bowl.

Those comments make it seem likely that Dallas will kick the can down the road as far as they can to create cap space for next season, and adding Hunter could be one of the pieces that ties everything together.
