Deonte Banks (Maryland)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-1 | Weight: 200 pounds

2022 Stats:

  • 38 tackles
  • 1 interception
  • 8 passes defended

Deonte Banks possesses a strong blend of size, speed, and exceptional athleticism. A very fluid runner with smooth hips, Banks is capable of covering receivers of any size and has great press disruption. The Maryland product has experience in all facets of coverage and has strong footwork, allowing for his instincts and ball skills to take over.

The main weakness that scouts have identified is that he is a step slow when anticipating complex route breaks. Given his rookie status for the upcoming season, he would likely be in a more sheltered role, letting him gain comfort and confidence at the highest level of football.

Banks has shown the ability to stay disciplined and the potential to develop into an All-Pro caliber player. He is one of the more versatile cornerbacks in the draft class and has gap-closing speed. His size and speed alone make him an enticing prospect likely to be drafted near the end of the first round and could be a solid option at the 23rd overall pick for the Vikings.
