7 free-agent cornerbacks the Vikings could sign in 2024
By Nik Edlund
Who are some of the free-agent cornerbacks the Minnesota Vikings could potentially sign this year to improve their secondary before the 2024 season?
One of the most beautiful times of the year is just hours away. The start of NFL free agency for the Minnesota Vikings and the rest of the league kicks off on Monday, March 11th, when the legal tampering period begins.
It is sure to be a frenzy as teams will be vying to get the players they deem necessary to get them over the hump and dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs as the champions of professional football.
The Vikings have some major issues they need to figure out. Quarterback is one of them and they also need to add a pass rusher in the worst way. They also need to find a starting left guard and add some talent to their defensive line. Another area that needs to be addressed is cornerback.
Minnesota has some experienced players at the position but not much depth or an abundance of talent. Byron Murphy Jr. is the No. 1 cornerback, and while his season was up and down, the defense fell apart when he wasn't a part of it.
Mekhi Blackmon was very promising as a rookie, but Andrew Booth Jr. and Akayleb Evans are huge question marks. Booth hasn't been able to put it together yet at the NFL level, and Evans's play completely fell off as the season wore down to the point he was benched.
The Vikings would be wise to upgrade this position through the draft or free agency, and maybe even both.
