7 free-agent cornerbacks the Vikings could sign in 2024
By Nik Edlund
Free-Agent Cornerback No. 5
Dane Jackson
2023 Team: Buffalo Bills
Ironically enough, Dane Jackson was drafted by the Bills from a pick they got from the Vikings in the Stefon Diggs trade, so his coming to Minnesota in free agency is almost like a coming home of sorts if you stretch it.
Jackson to Minnesota makes sense because he's a quality corner who could see plenty of playing time in Brian Flores's defense.
Jackson isn't the biggest cornerback in free agency standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 180 pounds soaking wet, but he's scrappy as hell, with good instincts.
His ball skills are solid with 28 pass breakups in his career. He doesn't come down with a ton of interceptions, but he's aggressive in run support and loves laying out ball carriers.
The former seventh-round pick would likely start outside with Byron Murphy across from him. This would move Mekhi Blackmon to the slot and allow young players like Andrew Booth Jr. and Akayleb Evans to be backups, where they can see spot duty and continue to master Brian Flores's scheme. Jackson wouldn't break the bank either, giving the Vikings good value for the signing.
