Free-Agent Cornerback No. 7

C.J. Henderson

2023 Team: Carolina Panthers

C.J. Henderson is another young player coming off his first contract who hasn't quite lived up to his potential.

He was seen as the top cornerback in the 2020 NFL Draft and the Jacksonville Jaguars took him with the ninth overall pick. He was surprisingly traded to the Carolina Panthers during his second season and has been just okay during his run with the team.

Henderson has amassed 172 tackles in his career with six of those coming for a loss. He's got nice, lanky arms that he uses to knock down passes, and he's got 16 of those in his four seasons in the league. He has just three interceptions in his career, so he hasn't been the biggest ballhawk.

Henderson is a guy with more potential than production. He's been on some pretty bad teams so far in his career and maybe a defensive coordinator like Brian Flores' can unleash the potential he showed at Florida that made him the ninth overall pick.

Again, if they sign a young guy like Henderson it could seal the fate of Evans or Booth, but the Vikings are trying to win games and need to field the best 53 men they can assemble.
