7 free-agent edge rushers the Vikings could sign in 2024
Free-Agent Edge Rusher No. 5
Josh Uche
2023 Team: New England Patriots
Josh Uche has had an interesting start to his NFL career. Although he never registered more than three sacks in a single season in three of his first four seasons, in 2022, he recorded 11.5 sacks and looked like a key part of the Patriots returning to the top of the NFL landscape.
However, in 2023, he did not perform as well, and now there are questions about what kind of pass rusher he truly can be.
One possibility for Uche could be signing a one-year deal with the Vikings, where he could play in a similar system to what he has been playing in for the past four seasons with the Patriots.
Uche is a natural 3-4 outside linebacker, and he has the potential to develop into a solid seven to eight sack per season player for Minnesota's defense.
At 25 years old, many feel that Uche has not been utilized to his maximum potential, and Minnesota could be the right place for him to reach it.
Uche is also a cost-effective option, which would allow the Vikings to allocate more of their cap toward other positions for the 2024 season.
