Vikings don't take any chances with top starters

Unlike some of the previous years with Mike Zimmer as the team's head coach, the Vikings kept most of their top players on the bench on Thursday night to prevent any of them from sustaining an unnecessary injury before the start of the regular season.

So even though the Minnesota fans in attendance didn't get to see guys like Justin Jefferson, Kirk Cousins, Harrison Smith, or Danielle Hunter take any snaps in Seattle, those fans were able to leave the stadium knowing that their favorite players now have a better chance to be healthy and ready to go once the regular season begins in September.

Kevin O'Connell still hasn't won a preseason game

It really isn't a big deal since they are exhibition games and the results don't have any impact on the regular season. But in the four preseason contests with Kevin O'Connell as their head coach, the Vikings have suffered a loss in each matchup.

Thursday's result actually extended Minnesota's preseason losing streak to eight games. The Vikings haven't won a preseason matchup since August 24th, 2019, when they got a 20-9 victory over the Arizona Cardinals inside U.S. Bank Stadium. So it's definitely been quite a while since Minnesota last won a preseason game.

The Vikings will attempt to end their meaningless exhibition losing streak next Saturday when they host the Tennesse Titans.
