Free Agent No. 3

Jonathan Greenard - EDGE (Houston Texans)

Jonathan Greenard is a great fit for the Vikings defense. Although his production hasn't been impressive in the past few seasons, he has shown remarkable growth in 2023.

Considering the team's need for a quality pass rusher and some uncertainties on the defensive side of the ball and at the quarterback position, Greenard is the perfect choice for the Vikings, as he offers excellent value without breaking the bank.

Greenard’s performance for the Texans has been inconsistent, with only one sack in his rookie season and 1.5 sacks last season, his best season was in 2021 when he recorded eight sacks fast forward to 2023, where he recorded 12.5 sacks for the playoff-bound Texans.

If he can maintain this level of production for the next few seasons, he could be a valuable pass-rushing option for the Vikings.

The team may face financial constraints if they decide to bring back Danielle Hunter, making it difficult to sign a top-edge rusher in the open market. In this case, Greenard could be a suitable option for the Vikings, as his expected price tag is more ideal.

Although he is much better as a stand-up outside linebacker, Brian Flores offers his players the flexibility to choose their preferred stance, and Greenard can put his hand in the dirt.

Overall, Greenard may not be the most glamorous signing, but he aligns with Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s preferences for free agents.
