Now with the New York Jets, will former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers follow in the footsteps of Brett Favre and join the Minnesota Vikings in 2024?

After leaving the Green Bay Packers and ending up with the New York Jets during the previous offseason, Brett Favre found himself as the newest member of the Minnesota Vikings on an August evening in 2009.

Fast forward to the current NFL offseason, where Aaron Rodgers parted with the Packers and is now preparing for his first regular season as the starting quarterback of the New York Jets.

If the upcoming 2023 campaign with the Jets doesn't go according to plan, could Rodgers escape New York in 2024 and wind up back in the NFC North as a member of Minnesota's roster, just as Favre did back in 2009?

How realistic is the possibility of New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers ending up with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024?

Right now, the chances of Rodgers becoming part of the Vikings' locker room in 2024 appear to be pretty low. However, the same could have been said about Favre during the summer before his lone season with the Jets in 2008.

Despite the chances currently being low, there are two things to keep in mind that are keeping this possibility alive.

One, Minnesota is currently scheduled to be in need of a new starting quarterback in 2024, with Kirk Cousins set to become a free agent after the upcoming season. And two, it wouldn't be financially difficult for New York to move on from Rodgers after just one year if things go poorly in 2023.

Outright releasing the four-time MVP would be too costly for the Jets in 2024. But if New York were able to execute a trade involving Rodgers, they would clear $37.4 million in cap space and be left with no dead cap to deal with, according to Spotrac.

Obviously, it's still too early to make any sort of logical predictions. But if things don't go as well for Rodgers and the Jets during the upcoming season and Minnesota decides against re-signing Cousins in 2024, could the Vikings turn their attention to making an attempt to acquire a quarterback who has spent the majority of his NFL career as their arch-enemy?
