Vikings training camp battle No. 2

Starting corner: Everyone but Byron Murphy

It was a bit shocking when the Minnesota Vikings not only didn't re-sign Patrick Peterson but also released Cameron Dantzler. This means the team will have two starting outside corners for the 2023 NFL season.

Free agent acquisition Byron Murphy should have one of those spots but the second one is up for grabs and the competition for not only the staring role but the depth positions behind it should be pretty intense.

Akayleb Evans, Mekhi Blackmon, Joejuan Williams, Andrew Booth Jr., Tay Gowan, and more will all be in camp working hard to secure a spot on the roster with one of them being named a starter or possibly two depending on the nickel situation with the new defensive coordinator.

Minnesota's defense was atrocious last year and having young, inexperienced corners is definitely a concern. However, getting those players experience for the future and evaluating the talent currently available is a big step toward future success.
