Vikings training camp battle No. 3

Roster spot: Running backs Kene Nwangwu vs. Ty Chandler vs. DeWyane McBride

Putting together a running back group without Dalvin Cook feels a little strange but Alexander Mattison is set to be the number one rusher for the Minnesota Vikings even though it could still be a committee.

Despite being on the roster for a couple of years, Kene Nwangwu hasn't been able to showcase his offensive skills during the regular season. He has enjoyed some success on special teams as a kick returner but has only played 47 offensive snaps in his two seasons with the Vikings.

Ty Chandler is in a similar situation. he played 12 offensive snaps as a rookie last season, taking six carries for 20 yards while also playing in 39 of Minnesota's special teams snaps to add to his value on the team's roster.

It was a bit surprising to see the Minnesota Vikings draft another running back in 2023 but it's not hard to see why the team liked what DeWayne McBride has to offer. He could be a surprise player to watch during camp and preseason.
