Linebacker (Depth)
Another battle for depth on the Vikings roster this year is at the inside linebacker position. Jordan Hicks and Brian Asamoah will be the starters but how the rest of the depth chart shakes out is completely up in the air.
There are some veterans on the team who have been around for a handful of seasons but are basically just glorified special teamers. Troy Dye fits that mold, as does free agent addition, Troy Reeder. William Kwenkeu made the practice squad as an undrafted free agent but was called up for six games and had a similar role as a special teamer/backup linebacker.
Those three will battle against some talented undrafted free agents like Ivan Pace Jr., Abraham Beauplan, and Wilson Huber. The team only kept four inside linebackers last year, so that leaves six players competing for two spots.
This should be a fun battle to watch as these guys will be giving it their all every day in practice to make this team and should bring out the best in each other. It's hard to say at this point who would be the favorites to back up the starters, but perhaps the upcoming OTAs will give us a clearer picture.
