Best Vikings roster decision No. 3

Cam Akers, running back

It stinks that Cam Akers tore his Achilles tendon this season but the Minnesota Vikings spent almost nothing to trade for his services from the Rams and his performance before his injury sent a lot of great messages.

Akers was part of a split with starting running back Alexander Mattison and was outperforming him in some games. Through Week 14, Mattison has yet to have a rushing touchdown, proving the team needs some help in the run game.

In his six games for the Vikings, Cam Akers had over 200 yards of offense and was the first player for Minnesota to record a rushing touchdown this season. And considering how little they gave up to acquire him, that's almost free production.

Set to become a free agent at the end of the season, Akers may not play another snap for the Vikings. It will be interesting to see how his Achilles recovery goes and what the future holds for him in the NFL.
