Vikings question No. 3

Will the defense be as bad as last year?

If not for the struggling Detroit Lions, the Minnesota Vikings would have given up the most yards per game in the league in 2022. Allowing opposing offenses to gain 391.1 yards per game and score 25.4 points per game is not a recipe for success.

The Minnesota Vikings removed defensive coordinator Ed Donatell and replaced him with Brian Flores in hopes that it would bring better results during the 2023 NFL season, but that has yet to be seen.

Minnesota's defense got younger as well, saying farewell to a few veterans. That may cause there to be some struggles in the unit as well but could also be a blessing in surprise if the speed and athleticism bring good results.

If the Vikings can manage to have even a middle-of-the-road defense while sustaining their offense from last year, there is no reason to think the team can't be successful against almost any franchise they face this season.
