Minnesota Vikings takeaway No. 3

It all fell apart late.

Back to specifically talking about what happened on the field in Wek 18, the Minnesota Vikings were doing a good job of not making too many terrible mistakes that would cost them in this game against the Detroit Lions.

Two late interceptions will get the headlines, but miscues on special teams and some tackling problems in the game were what finally put this game out of reach for the Vikings on Sunday afternoon.

Minnesota had to rely on big plays to stay within striking distance of the Lions but trading punches didn't work out well for the Vikings. They were only down seven at halftime, but that turned into a double-digit deficit in the second half.

Whether you were a Minnesota Vikings fan hoping for a win for a tiny chance at the playoffs or if you were rooting for a loss to improve draft positioning, nobody wants to see their favorite team embarrassed. Thankfully, the Vikings weren't embarrassed in this one.
