Minnesota Vikings takeaway No. 5

Injuries were the story of the season.

Expectations for the Minnesota Vikings took a huge nosedive when Kirk Cousins was lost for the season with an Achilles tendon injury. However, he was far from the only impact player the team was forced to finish the season without.

The list of contributors lost for the season is wild. Tight end T.J Hockenson, running back Cam Akers, and edge rusher D.J. Wonnum are only a few of the other major losses for the season that changed how the team went into games.

Considering how fortunate the Vikings had been with injuries at the quarterback position while Kirk Cousins has been behind center, losing him for the season felt like a particularly difficult blow to absorb after starting only eight games.

Finding another durable and reliable quarterback will be a challenge for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason if they decide to move on from Kirk Cousins. Expect this conversation to dominate fan discussion up until the draft.
