Buccaneers vs. Vikings best anytime touchdown scorer picks (Hockenson is Back)

The Vikings have a revamped offense after losing Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen in the offseason, so there are opportunities available in the red zone.

The Minnesota Vikings were one of the highest scoring offenses in the NFL last year and despite some turnover, they’re likely to put up points under Kevin O’Connell again in 2023, especially when considering the team added Jordan Addison in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft to give Kirk Cousins another weapon opposite the best wide receiver in football.

With Baker Mayfield instead of Tom Brady at quarterback, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won’t be as good, but there will be plenty of scores in this Week 1 matchup with the total set at 45.5 Here's three picks for anytime touchdown scorers at U.S. Bank Stadium in this opening matchup.

Buccaneers vs. Vikings anytime TD picks

  • TJ Hockenson
  • Ty Chandler
  • Trey Palmer

TJ Hockenson +190

Hockenson turned into one of the most reliable fantasy football tight ends once joining the Vikings last year because of his target volume. In only 10 games he saw 86 targets and reeled in 60 for 519 yards and three touchdowns. He’ll be one of Cousins’ favorite targets again this year.

Ty Chandler +600

Yes, with Dalvin Cook gone, Alexander Mattison is going to get the lion’s share of the carries, but Chandler is an intriguing No. 2 running back. Last season, he only ran the ball six time for 20 yards, but we’ll just have to see how the backfield breaks down this year. I think there’s value betting on Chandler early in the season.

Trey Palmer +700

We’re rooting for the Vikings here on The Viking Age, but we can’t just bet on Minnesota players to score. Trey Palmer is the player to back on the Tampa Bay side and he provides great value. He was very impressive in the preseason as a rookie sixth-round draft pick. With questions about Mike Evans’ contract and his groin, Palmer is slated to start opposite Chris Godwin and with his 4.33 40-yard dash speed he’s a definite touchdown threat.
