Vikings change No. 1

Work on ball security

In 12 games, the Minnesota Vikings have lost a league-leading 14 fumbles and thrown 10 interceptions for a total of 24 giveaways, which is the largest number of giveaways for any team during the 2023 season so far.

In contrast, the Vikings have mustered 16 takeaways. That number puts them right in the middle of the leaderboard, tied for 15th most with the Cleveland Browns. That gives them a turnover differential of minus eight.

The fact that Minnesota has managed to have a record of 6-6 through their first 12 games is a bit astounding considering how heavily they are losing the turnover battle. A few less mistakes could have the Vikings as serious contenders.

If the Minnesota Vikings can take the bye week to clean up this phase of their game, they will be in a much better position to be competitive in their final five games of the regular season, which includes three division games.
